Indonesia grants patents for inventions that are novel, contain an inventive
step and are industrially applicable. The term of protection is 20 years.
A simple patent may be granted for new products that have practical use.
The term of protection for these is 10 years. Indonesia is a member of
both the Patent Co-Operation Treaty and the Paris Convention.

Indonesia grants registration for designs that comprise shapes, configurations, or compositions of lines or colors, or a combination of both, in three-dimensional or two-dimensional forms and that produce an aesthetic impression.
